A Few Minutes Can Save You Hours of Frustration
The Problem
You began using other browsers and now when you try to open Internet Explorer (IE) in Start screen, it starts from the Desktop mode. You want to go back to the Metro style version of IE. After you installed other browsers you now find that the IE Start screen app tile looks different and clicking on it launches the desktop version of the browser.
The Solution
By default, IE 10 is available to users as a full-screen Metro app via the Start screen. When IE is not set as the default web browser, it will start only from Desktop mode. This is because Microsoft chose to disable the Metro version of IE 10 if another Web browser has been installed and configured as the default browser. If you are familiar with starting the IE app from the Start screen, it has to be reset once again as your default web browser. You will need to follow the PC TuneUp Maestro Fix-It center instructions outlined here.
