Open File

The Open File tool has two functions that you can take advantage of with a single scan.  First of all, if you are having issues opening a file, you can use the Open File tool to scan for issues for this file type.  These include a missing host application or having an improperly registered file type in the system registry.  Secondly, if these issues are not detected, it could be that you do not have the necessary program installed to support operations associated with the file.  PC TuneUp Maestro can recommend a program that you can  downloaded and use for the necessary file support.  At the same time, the Open File scan will also identify other file extension type errors and the results are displayed revealing the issues and providing you an option to correct for them.

To start using the Open File tool, do the following:

From the navigation bar of the Main Menu page, click Open File.

Enter or Select a File

To begin, you will need to enter a valid file extension in the box provided.   Alternatively you can select a file.

A file extension is the suffix of a filename.  For example, for the filename: "sample.txt", the file extension is "txt".

Do one of the following:

Enter a valid file extension in the text box provided.
Click the Select File button.  In the Open dialog, locate and select a file (one of the same format type that is in question), and click the Open button.
